Experian Net Up; Scottish and Southern Sales Down 15%

Experian PLC fiscal year 2010 revenues rose 0.3% to $3.88 billion and net profit rose 23.5% to $600 million or 58.1 cents a share. Scottish and Southern Energy plc fiscal year 2010 revenues fell 15% to £21.6 billion and net profit rose 1,000% to £1.24 billion or 133.9 pence a share.

REC Net Rises; Chennai Petroleum Net Loss

Rural Electrification Corporation Limited fourth quarter sales rose 34.3% to Rs 1,796 crore and net profit rose 44.6% to Rs 561 crore. Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited fourth quarter sales rose 13.6% to Rs 5,465 crore and net loss was Rs 60.1 crore.

Hewlett-Packard, Analog Devices Net Rises

Hewlett-Packard Company second quarter sales rose 12.4% to $30.8 billion and net income rose 29.4% to $2.2 billion or 91 cents a share. Analog Devices, Inc first quarter sales rose 41% to $668.2 million and net income rose 222.4% to $167.1 million or 55 cents a share.

U.S. Stocks Decline, Weak Euro, Oil

U.S. stocks fell as the euro zone austerity measures weaken the euro to a four-year low. Germany is likely to take more measures to curb speculation in financial markets. Visa Inc, MasterCard, American Express and Capital One declined on tighter fees regulations.

Wal-Mart Stores, Home Depot Net Rises

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc first quarter sales rose 6% to $99.1 billion and net income rose 10% to $3.3 billion or 88 cents a share. The Home Depot, Inc first quarter sales rose 4.3% to $16.86 billion and net income rose 41% to $725 million or 43 cents a share.

Australia Supports Higher Resource Taxes

Australian government said its proposal to impose 40% tax on resource companies is an effort to make structural changes in how it incentivizes investments. The dollar fell after The RBA releases minutes of latest meeting. Macarthur Coal rejected takeover proposal by Peabody Energy.
