Lots of big jobs news, so we’ll start with the kind of stuff that moves markets. GE CEO John Flannery was recently ousted and replaced by the board with Lawrence Culp, the former CEO of Danaher Corporation, a publicly traded technology manufacturing conglomerate. Flannery is gone after just a year. Read here what it might mean for GE’s power business. In other GE news, Om Moolchandani, GE Digital’s director of cybersecurity, has moved to AutoGrid to be the company’s first chief information security officer. Elon Musk stepped down as chairman of the board of Tesla late last month, but will remain CEO. The move comes after Musk tweeted in August that funding had been secured for a $70 billion go-private effort. Tesla, however, will be remaining public, while Musk has agreed to a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission regarding that tweet, and will pay a $20 million

. Tesla will also pay a $20 million fine, get some new governance rules and the addition of two independent directors.
In other Tesla news, Mindy Yang left as senior director and worldwide controller for Asia-Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa, to join Enphase Energy as VP and chief accounting officer. It's certainly not the most talked about presidential nomination in recent weeks, but it’s now official that Trump has nominated Bernard McNamee to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, seeking to put a chief proponent of the Energy Department’s coal and nuclear bailout efforts on the same commission that has unanimously rejected these efforts over the past year. A hearing has been scheduled for next Tuesday, less than two weeks since McNamee's nomination was announced, which is a record pace for a FERC confirmation process. Over in Europe, Thierry Lepercq, Engie’s EVP for research, technology and innovation, will become the executive director for Engie’s TerraWatt Initiative, a global nonprofit that’s trying to build a terawatt of solar capacity by 2030. Also at Engie, Michael Webber will now be the scientific and technology director for the company, starting in January. He has spent the last five years as deputy director of the Energy Institute and co-director of the clean energy incubator at UT Austin. Enel Green Power North America has promoted Georgios Papadimitriou to head up the regional division, replacing Rafael Gonzalez, who will take the same post over in Spain.
